Played Properly

Autumn 2026 edition

Questions we get asked

Updated 12 September 2026

Are these games really free?

Yes. All five can be registered and played without payment details. All five also have a shop; each review says how much the shop matters, and the Fairness score is where it counts against them.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything here runs in current Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari. Several also have mobile apps on the same account, which we mention where it is useful.

Is this a gambling site?

No. Played Properly reviews free-to-play video games only. Nothing here involves wagering money or winning cash, and we do not list casinos, slots or betting products.

How old do I need to be?

Played Properly is written for adults. Each publisher sets its own minimum age in its terms, usually 16, and accounts with payment methods must be held by adults.

How do you choose the games?

Browser-only, free to play properly, no gambling, live for at least a year with an English-speaking community. From that pool we pick five per season that between them cover a spread of genres. The testing page has the detail.

How do you make money?

The "Play" buttons are affiliate links. Sign up through one and the publisher may pay us a small commission. Publishers cannot buy a place on the list or change a score.

Why is the list so short?

Because a review takes weeks and there are three of us. We would rather be right about five games than vague about fifty.

Something in a game is broken. Can you help?

Not with your account. We do not run the games. Each publisher's site has a support link; that is the right place for login, payment and bug problems.

Can I suggest a game?

Please do, via the contact page. Tell us how long you have played it and what keeps you there. That is far more useful than a link.
